Divot Dogs 2 Make Their Way Back to the Championship!

Lincoln, NE – Holmes Golf Course played host to the NJG TEAM GOLF South Division Playoff presented by Five Points Bank on Monday, July 29, 2019. Through 9-hole team competitions, TEAM GOLF serves as an introduction to tournament play for junior golfers, age 7-13. Designed to serve the beginning golfer with minimum experience, TEAM GOLF’s format can be played by anyone regardless of skill. TEAM GOLF helps young golfers learn the game with a set of beginner friendly rules such as no hazards, stroke limits, and the ability to drop a ball out of a bunker. Along with these rules, TEAM GOLF is also played through a scramble format allowing the golfers to have fun competing together as a team.

After a morning full of great golf, the four teams winning their pool to advance to the afternoon were the Country Club of Lincoln Blackshirts, Wilderness Ridge Divot Dogs 2, Beatrice Pinseekers 1 and the Yankee Hill Golphers 1. When it was all said and done, the top two teams who will advance to the TEAM Golf Championship out of the South Division were the Divot Dogs 2 out of Wilderness Ridge GC and the CCL Blackshirts. The Divot Dogs were the overall champions scoring 40 points. The team from Wilderness Ridge is coached by PGA Professionals, Chris Thomson, Mike Schuchart, Alex Carper, and Sarah Pravecek. The champions of this event were Carson Thurber, Carter Honnens, Walker Nannen, Bobby Li, Ben Kottmeyer and Eddie Zhang. Walker Nannen put an exclamation point on the win by holing out on his second shot on the 18th hole in the final group. Finishing in second also advancing to the championship were the CCL Blackshirts scoring 33 points. The 2019 TEAM GOLF Championship will be held on Friday, August 9th at The Country Club of Lincoln.

Special thanks to our season long presenting sponsor, Five Points Bank and to host PGA Professional, Scott Carlson, PGA as well as the entire Holmes Golf Course staff for hosting such a great event.
