ABOUT TEAM GOLF

TEAM GOLF Mission:

TEAM GOLF presented by Five Point Bank is for the junior golfer 7 – 13 years in age with beginning level golf experience and offers an introduction to tournament play through 9-hole team competitions. TEAM GOLF will serve as a fun, social and less stressful approach to tournament golf providing juniors with knowledge and skills that encourage long term youth development and a lifetime of golf enjoyment.

TEAM GOLF is perfect for any Junior Golfer in the 9-hole division. Originally designed to serve the beginning golfer with minimum experience, TEAM GOLF can be played by anyone regardless of skill. It is also a great new format for avid golfers to have more fun playing the game of golf.

TEAM GOLF initiatives to help new golfers learn the game:

  • Scramble format
  • Modified rules such as stroke limits, ability to drop out of a bunker, no out of bounds and more
  • Play from TEE IT FORWARD yardages
  • Instruction from PGA Professionals & Associates
  • Points scoring system so nobody sees the number of strokes taken
  • Ability to substitute players allowing you to play any number of holes you like or feel ready for
  • NJG Staff & Volunteers at all events to aid golfers

With PGA Professionals & Associates serving as Head Coaches, instruction is included! This ensures your experience with TEAM GOLF will be a great one learning from the experts in the game and playing golf with your friends.

Visit the "Find a Team" page to find a TEAM GOLF host facility near you. If you have difficulty finding a PGA Professional or Host Facility, please contact Nebraska Junior Golf at info@njgt.org

TEAM Golfers must be a member of Nebraska Junior Golf. NJG Members will have eligibility for all TEAM GOLF events as well as all applicable NJG Tour stroke play tournaments, events and functions. NJG Members receive a gift pack highlighted on the NJG Benefits page.

Each tournament will cost no more than $20 per participant depending on the number of kids participating on the team. TEAM GOLF charges vary by facility based on instruction and services offered. This allows you to find a program that fits your schedule, budget and desired experience!

TEAM GOLF tournaments will consist of six (6) players plus any substitutes from each golf facility’s team. Each team will be represented by pairings of two (2) players. Divisions for team golf are 7-8 (co-ed), 9-11 (co-ed) and 12-13 (co-ed). Teams consist of any make-up of the divisions above. You are not required to fill kids in each division (ex. A team can be all 11 year old girls). The different divisions just determine teeing ground. Any junior may play with another team member of any age division. A substitute MUST stay with the pairing they started the round with.

The format for these events will be a two-person scramble over nine holes (nine-holes is a match). Each hole is worth 2 points with the overall maximum points earned of 20 points over the 9-hole match (18 points from the match and 2 points for each pairing who completes 9 holes and turns in a signed scorecard). In case of a tie on a hole each team will receive 1 point toward their total. Each two-some/pairing’s points will go toward the overall team total to determine the team's overall finish.

Facilities are able to send multiple teams to each event.

  • Team Jerseys featuring your own jersey number and customizable back. Many golfers include their team mascot, host facility or name on the back of the jersey.
  • Ability to form your own team, select a team mascot and team color, customize your jersey and play with your friends.
  • Caddies permitted. Bring your non-golfing friends along!
  • Substitutes allow you to play a full 9-holes or any number of holes you like.
  • Team Training Camps & Practices featuring instruction from PGA Professionals and Associates.
  • More than 20 official TEAM GOLF events run by the professional staff of the NJG, Nebraska PGA and Nebraska Golf Association.
  • Special tees for each age division.
  • Points awarded instead of strokes counted so nobody sees the amount of strokes taken.
  • Awards for the top point receiving teams at each event.
  • Ability to hold scrimmages with other teams.
  • New TEAM GOLF Guidelines making golf quick and fun.
  • Season ending championship featuring the TEAM GOLF Championship Belt.

Hosted at the beautiful Country Club of Lincoln, the TEAM GOLF Championship will determine the overall grand champions of TEAM GOLF. Throughout the year each team will receive points based on their finishes throughout the season long competition. The top 15 teams and a team representing the championship host facility will be invited to the season ending divisional playoff. Each of the 16 teams will be placed into one of four pools based on points finish. One team from each pool will go on to a final four round robin with each team playing each other to determine the top two teams from each division. The final two teams from each division will battle for the grand championship and the TEAM GOLF Championship Belt.

Teams may only count the points earned from their best 5 finishes toward their season total. For teams that compete in more than 5 events, their top 5 point events will count toward their season total.

The Championship will be a season-ending event to not only determine a champion but celebrate the entire season. The Champion team will receive the TEAM GOLF Championship Belt to be housed at their home club until next season.
