Team Eastside Claims Back-to-Back Fall Junior Series Titles

FJS Post Series Awards

LINCOLN, Neb. (October 5, 2026) – Nebraska Junior Golf completed the three-event 2026 Fall Junior Series (FJS) on Sunday at Elks Country Club in Columbus, wrapping up another successful fall of individual and team competition for Nebraska's top high school junior golfers. The three-event series began September 20 at Oakland GC before moving to Jackrabbit Run GC in Grand Island on September 27 and concluded October 4 at Elks CC. Each event featured both individual and team competitions, giving players the opportunity to compete for individual honors while also representing their team throughout the series.

Eastside Goes Back-to-Back

For the second consecutive year, Eastside claimed the overall Fall Junior Series team championship. The 2026 championship team featured Carter Honnens, Max Moss and Walker Nannen, who combined for 1,500 points throughout the three-event series. They were dominant from start to finish, winning the team competition at all three events. The team opened the series with a 143 (-1) at Oakland Golf Club, followed that with an impressive 135 (-9) at Jackrabbit Run, and closed the series with a 137 (-7) at Elks Country Club. Their three victories gave Eastside a perfect record in the event-level team competition and secured the overall championship.

The Thunderbolts, consisting of Leo Hong, Henry Stempson and Teddy Strope, finished second overall with 800 points. The Thunderbolts finished runner-up at both Jackrabbit Run and Elks Country Club.

Honnens Captures Individual Title

Carter Honnens of Lincoln put together a remarkable series to claim the overall individual championship with 1,275 points. Honnens opened the FJS with a victory at Oakland Golf Club, firing a 4-under-par 68 to finish one stroke ahead of Zephyr Mowinkel. He followed that with a runner-up finish at Jackrabbit Run, shooting a 5-under-par 67, before finishing tied for second at Elks Country Club with a 3-under-par 69. Honnens competed in all three events and never finished outside the top two, making him the clear leader in the final individual standings. Max Moss of Lincoln finished second overall with 985 points after an impressive final event. Moss shot 4-under-par 68 at Elks Country Club to claim the Frontier Event title. He also finished third at Jackrabbit Run with a 4-under-par 68. Miles Elgert of Lincoln finished third overall with 635 points despite competing in only two events. Elgert made his two appearances count, winning the Pioneer Event at Jackrabbit Run with the lowest individual score of the series — a spectacular 6-under-par 66. Rounding out the top five were Jack Kelley of Omaha with 616.25 points and Zephyr Mowinkel of Milford with 578.75 points.

2026 FJS All-Star Team

The top five individual finishers in the final FJS standings were named the 2026 FJS All-Star Team:

  • Carter Honnens — Lincoln
  • Max Moss — Lincoln
  • Miles Elgert — Lincoln
  • Jack Kelley — Omaha
  • Zephyr Mowinkel — Milford

Honnens and Elgert were the only two All-Stars to record a victory during the series aside from Moss, with all three tournament champions represented among the top five.

Standout Performances Across the Series

The individual competition produced numerous stories at each stop. At Oakland Golf Club, Honnens captured the Explorer Event with a 4-under-par 68, while Mowinkel finished one shot back at 69. Grady Friedrichsen, Jack Kelley and Colin Agnew rounded out the top five at 71. Jackrabbit Run produced the lowest round of the series when Elgert fired his 6-under-par 66 to win the Pioneer Event. Honnens followed at 67, with Moss another shot back at 68. Jack Kelley, Walker Nannen and Henry Stempson all finished at 3-under-par 69. The series concluded at Elks Country Club, where Moss shot 4-under-par 68 to win the Frontier Event.
